BERLIN: The death toll from torrential rains and floods in Germany has risen to 81, while the death toll in Belgium has risen to 92 with 11 people killed.

Heavy rains and floods in West Germany have killed at least 81 people and left more than 1,300 missing, according to a foreign news agency. People are waiting for help under the open sky.

 

According to the German Meteorological Department, the 100-year record of rains has been broken, while heavy rains in many areas have caused flooding. On the other hand, the German administration has expressed fears of an increase in casualties due to the current situation.

 

In Belgium, the death toll from rains and floods rose to 11, with more than 28 missing. The injured were shifted to hospital. Relief camps have been set up for flood victims and hospitals have been declared emergency.

 

A new series of rains in European countries will continue this week.
